i have been working as a print reporter for nearly 16 years at the vancouver sun, but i started my career in broadcast journalism in 2001, working for the radio arm of the canadian press called broadcast news in vancouver. still a green reporter, i was sent off to cover the 2003 firestorm in kelowna. i loved my job at cp but i had itchy travel feet. so, i ventured off to china and then to spain before heading back to vancouver.

before i had even unpacked my suitcase, i accepted a job on the breaking news desk at canwest news service in ottawa. there, i began writing my own environmental features, many concerning plastic pollution. my goal, to this day, is to write stories about our connection with the environment and the threat we face with the climate and ecological crises.

i still love to jump on breaking news, and so i feel lucky to be part of a fierce webster-award winning breaking news team called van live at the vancouver sun.

i studied history at ubc and journalism at bcit.
