alberta man sentenced for 2018 killing of chilliwack man in broad daylight

an alberta man charged in the 2018 slaying of a chilliwack man has been sentenced in b.c. supreme court.
harry tyler christensen, who pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of 27-year-old kyle cromarty in march, was sentenced this week to life in prison with no chance of parole for just over 13 years, according to a b.c. supreme court decision.
cromarty was found inside a home in the 46600-block of yale road in chilliwack on oct. 4, 2018, suffering gunshot wounds. he later died in hospital.
according to court documents, cromarty was shot twice in the back and the shooting happened in a public place near a school, supermarket and a restaurant.
in sentencing, the judge considered that were children playing in a nearby parking lot when the shooting occurred. it also happened near the end of the school day, which meant that there were parents picking up their children from school at the time.
