my first ever byline was as the edmonton journal comics junior cover artist in april 1996. i was paid $10 for my submission and have been a journalist ever since. after moving to b.c., i reported for various arts and community newspapers and juggled a part-time job in youth outreach, all while completing school. it gave me the chance to see some amazing bands live, write about pop culture and even meet (and interview) my heroes: weezer.

once i completed my degree, i decided to pursue journalism full time. i traded concert reviews for breaking news and have been with postmedia since 2012, starting as an intern on the night shift and quickly learning the ropes of the assignment desk.

today, i oversee the van live digital news team and cover any and all breaking news, quirky city stories and brights, and develop value-added, service journalism pieces for our readers.
