update: vancouver police have arrested kenneth nolan kirton, according to an update shared at 2:50 p.m. thursday. he remains in custody.
previously: vancouver police are searching for a convicted sex offender who did not return to his halfway house on wednesday.
kenneth nolan kirton, 59, is a designated dangerous offender who had been living at a halfway house in vancouver’s downtown eastside under a 10-year supervision order after being released.
police say kirton signed out of his halfway house on wednesday and has not returned. a countrywide warrant has been issued for his arrest.
kirton is 5-foot-4 and weighs about 135 pounds. he has short black hair and brown eyes, and may be wearing a tan button-up shirt with light blue shorts and white runners.
he has several tattoos, including a skull on his right forearm, and a scar on his left cheek.
it’s not the first time kirton has left his halfway house and failed to return.
in 2023, vancouver police also issued a warning, asking the public to help locate kirton when he did not report back to his halfway house. in that incident, kirton was later arrested after members of the public reported a man acting erratically near vancouver’s china creek park.
he was also the subject of a warrant in 2012 in a case involving attempted murder and robbery, after a 73-year-old woman was stabbed several times in her home.
