community centres, swimming/wading pools and water parks

many of the following are city-owned facilities that allow anyone to drop in for a few minutes to cool down, while others are swimming or wading pools where you can take your offspring to play.
most splash parks and wading pools are free and open to the public, while swimming pools are usually by admission. it may differ from city to city so be sure to check each facility’s website for admission and hours before visiting.

water fountains in vancouver

here’s a map of every single permanently installed water fountain around vancouver. there are more than 200 in total.
these permanent water fountains are connected to the city’s municipal water systems and is the same drinking water supplied to residences and businesses.

temporary water fountains in vancouver

you can also find temporary drinking fountains in vancouver set up at the following locations for summer:
• queen elizabeth plaza (650 hamilton st.)
• carrall and water streets
• robson and cardero streets
• granville street and west 13th avenue
• main street and 50th avenue
• broadway and commercial drive
• commercial drive and kitchener street
• powell street and jackson avenue
• 2000 west 15th ave. at arbutus greenway
• prince albert street at east broadway
each of the temporary drinking fountains has a bottle-filler as well.

misting stations and splash zones

the city also installs misting stations throughout the city each summer, after the successful installation of three in the downtown eastside in 2018.
the misting stations were opened in may and are available at the following locations:
• playland entrance (east hastings and windermere streets)
• columbia and powell streets
• marine gateway (497 s.w. marine dr.)
• granville street and west 10th avenue
• commercial drive and east 10th avenue
• pigeon park (399 carrall st.)
• manitoba street and athletes way
• nelson park (1030 bute st.)
• west boulevard and 45th avenue
• fraser street and 48th avenue
• west 70th avenue and hudson street
• east hastings street and heatley avenue
• 1607 east hastings st.
vancouver fire rescue will often host splash zones across the city on days when the daytime temperature is above 25 c. the splash zone locations will vary each week and will see a fire truck set up to spray water for anyone interested in splashing around.
