advocacy group takes on the task of improving mental health of older canadians

following the launch of the first-ever clinical guidelines on anxiety, the canadian coalition for seniors' health is also developing guidelines on social isolation and loneliness and dementia to increase support, connection and improve quality of life.

social connections are important to maintaining good health as we age

in-person or online social connections, volunteering and community participation, as well as physical activity have been shown to decrease disability and extend life expectancy. while the risks are serious, they are not inevitable. increased social engagement has been linked to increased disability and a longer life expectancy.
