growing up delivering the aldergrove star with my mom and five siblings sparked my love for stories and curiosity about the world.
this curiosity led me to study international studies at trinity western university in b.c., living in china and india — further pursuing stories that broadened my understanding of global issues and the people behind them.
i moved to new york city in 2018 to attend king’s college, where i honed my reporting skills at the mccandlish phillips journalism institute. i got my start at the new york daily news and then went onto producing live shows, town halls, podcasts and short documentaries at bric tv. highway mike, a portrait of a man navigating homelessness and addiction in harlem, was nominated for a new york emmy in 2020.
after my return to canada, i became editor of my hometown newspaper, the aldergrove star, then moved on to help manage black press media’s digital news bureau. in vancouver, my reporting on b.c.’s floods contributed to the vancouver sun and province receiving the 2022 jack webster award for best breaking news.
