i was about 11 the first time i read a story in our hometown daily newspaper and thought ‘this should be rearranged,’ which made me realize reporting was something i might want to do. and journalism is the career i did pursue after receiving an undergrad degree in communications from simon fraser university.
along the way i’ve worked at small town newspapers in alberta and b.c., flown with the rcaf snowbirds, traveled to the mining ghost town of anyox on the remote north coast and worked on teams of reporters that were nominated for one national newspaper award and won two jack webster awards for outstanding achievement in british columbia journalism.
now i want to take the skills i learned reporting for the vancouver sun’s business section to bring new perspectives on b.c.’s renewed ambitions for diversifying the province’s economy to the sun and province’s readers.
