two arrested after shots fired into the same rural lunenburg county home twice in two weeks

rcmp in lunenburg county have arrested two men after shots were fired at a residence in nineveh, about 10 kilometres southwest of new germany.
police say they were called about several shots being fired into a home on highway 208 just after 11:45 p.m. on july 12. no one was injured.
police identified a suspect vehicle and, while en route to the house, spotted the vehicle and stopped it. two men inside were arrested and a rifle was taken from the vehicle.
orland james barrett, 68, of hubley, is charged with:
- uttering threats
- possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
- unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- possession of a weapon obtained by crime
the second person arrested, a 57-year-old man from halifax, will be facing similar firearms-related charges. he was released on conditions and is due in court on sept. 9.
investigators also allege that barrett was involved in a similar shooting at the same house on june 28. in that incident he’s been charged with:
- intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless
- unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- possession of a weapon obtained by crime
- possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
barrett was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in bridgewater provincial court on aug. 19.
