rcmp in lunenburg county have charged a man with sexual offences after a search for a missing youth from kings county led police to the home in chester basin.
police say they believe more potential complainants have stayed at the same house.
rcmp in kings county started an investigation on july 13 after tracking the youth to the home.
during the investigation, officers learned that other youths had also spent time with the man, either at his home or on trips away from the area. lunenburg district rcmp then took over the investigation.
on wednesday, police went to the croft road home with a search warrant and arrested a man inside. they also seized electronic devices.
matthew joseph mercer, 38, has been charged with four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference and luring a child.
he appeared in bridgewater provincial court thursday and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance aug. 6.
rcmp said in a release that anyone who believes they may have been victimized while staying in the house is encouraged to contact police.
police said there’s no time limit on reporting sexual offences.
in nova scotia, anyone who encounters suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation material must report it.
