highway 101 between kingston and aylesford has been closed due to a serious crash.
two people are dead after a crash on highway 101 near kingston on tuesday.
rcmp, kingston firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. after two vehicles collided near the kingston exit.
police say a tractor-trailer collided with a kia rio while both were traveling west at exit 17e to kingston.
the driver of the rio, a 75-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 28-year-old man, both from middleton, were pronounced dead at the scene. the driver of the truck, a 33-year-old man from lawrencetown, annapolis county, was treated at the scene by paramedics.
the crash caused extensive damage to the car, which was pushed up the road from the point of the crash. the tractor-trailer, which was hauling bales of hay, ended up in the ditch about 60 metres further up the road. the truck remained on its wheels and did not tip over.
the highway was closed from exit 17w to exit 16 in aylesford for about seven hours while a collision reconstructionist worked at the scene.
the investigation is continuing. police ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage to contact the kings rcmp office at 902-679-5555.
