sid wilson has reportedly been booted from slipknot.
a source close to the band told tmz that the dj and keyboardist was permanently ousted from the band on friday, though no further details were divulged.
neither the band nor wilson has confirmed the news.
not so fast?
however, slipknot’s jim root shared a cryptic message on his instagram stories over the weekend that appeared to address the drama.
“don’t believe everything you read,” the guitarist wrote, per people. “stop. think. take a breath. sit with it for awhile. maybe. just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
the band’s 2008 song “‘til we die’ played in the background of the post.
wilson, 49, has been the heavy metal group’s dj and turntablist for nearly three decades, joining in 1998 and appearing on every slipknot studio album.
the group also includes percussionist and founding member shawn “clown” crahan, guitarist mick thomson and singer corey taylor.
other members include root, eloy casagrande, michael pfaff and alessandro venturella.

craig jones, who had been with slipknot since 1996, left the band in 2023, while chris fehn departed in 2019 after he filed a lawsuit against the band and bandmates crahan and taylor, alleging they had set up separate business entities without his knowledge and were withholding owed profits.
joey jordison died in his sleep in 2021, and paul gray died from a drug overdose in 2010.
it’s been more than a year since slipknot performed live, at inkcarceration, a music and tattoo festival in ohio in july 2025.
had been engaged to kelly osbourne
wilson’s reported departure comes amid his rocky relationship with his ex-fiancee kelly osbourne.
the musician proposed last year shortly before her father ozzy osbourne’s death, but they called off their engagement in march 2026.

“she’s been in a challenging headspace for several reasons. it’s been very emotional for her. she’s had a lot going on,” an insider told people at the time.
“ozzy’s death still affects her deeply,” they continued. “she’s very focused on being there for her mom right now. they’re incredibly close, and that’s been her priority.”
the source added: “it’s been hard for kelly and sid to balance everything, especially with different priorities about where to spend time. this has put a strain on their relationship.”
wilson and osbourne, 41, share three-year-old son sidney.
