i grew up in burnaby and moved to asia after my undergrad degree. it was one backpacking trip, then staying another year to study mandarin, and then another year until part-time jobs became full-time ones.
living in beijing in the mid-1990s and working as a fixer for foreign correspondents covering china for north american newspapers was an amazing way to learn a lot. i later moved to hong kong and started working as a reporter. for years after moving back to vancouver, i wrote about b.c. businesses in asia.
now, i mostly write about mini-trends, business deals and real estate happenings. if you have a story idea, please reach me at jlee-young@postmedia.com.
