as soon as i learned to read, i would spend hours devouring any book i could get my hands on, from chronicles of narnia and lord of the rings to the old history books that my dad would keep on the bookshelves in his office.
i joined the university of victoria’s campus newspaper, the martlet, in 2018 while pursuing an honours degree in history and a bachelor’s degree in political science.
upon graduation, i began working for an online newsletter service called bc today, which provides daily updates on provincial politics to policymakers and analysts. joining the legislative press gallery at the age of 22, i spent almost two years gaining an in-depth knowledge of how government functions.
in july of 2024, i joined the vancouver sun and now work alongside vaughn palmer, the dean of b.c. political journalism, to cover the important stories at the legislature in victoria.

why i love journalism
it provides the ability to hold our leaders accountable, keep the public informed and tell the stories of people who might not otherwise have a voice.
