“it was everything i wanted and a little bit more,” said the 18-year-old steel-douglas, who is headed to coastal carolina university in the fall. “i don’t know how to put it into words.”
steel-douglas won the hurdles in 13.48 seconds with st. joseph’s madison gravelle taking silver in 13.84. while qualifying earlier in the day, she was also competing in the long jump, which she won on her final attempt with a leap of 5.64 metres. l’essor’s kaiya hlady took the silver medal with a best effort of 5.60 metres.
