the leamington lions’ dakari milks is racing to ofsaa at a record pace.
milks easily advanced to the ofsaa championships, which start thursday in toronto, with a pair of record runs at the ofsaa west regional in london.
milks won the senior boys’ 200 metres in 21.04 seconds, which broke the 30-year-old mark of 21.30 set by kitchener st. mary’s dave tomlin in 1995.
milks also moved into the record books in the senior boy’s 100 metres. his time of 10.56 equalled the record first set by kitchener forest height’s devon rittinger in 2012.
two other area athletes also went into the record books with villanova’s jayden grein winning the open boys’ ambulatory shot put with a throw of 8.04 metres. that broke the old mark of 7.37 metres set last year by cambridge glenview park’s malek mccue.
l’essor’s abbi-lynne dufour broke her own mark in the open girls’ visually impaired shot put. her throw of three metres bettered the mark of 2.71 metres she set a year ago.
ohl honours spitfires
four members of the windsor spitfires were named all-stars by the ontario hockey league.
captain liam greentree, was named to the first team after putting up 49 goals and 119 points in 64 games. the 19-year-old greentree was a third-team selection a year ago and was also a first-team all-rookie selection in 2022-23.

ilya protas, who finished second in league scoring with 50 goals and 124 points in 61 games, was named a second-team all-star at centre behind saginaw’s michael misa, who led the league in scoring.
the spitfires also had two players named second-team all-rookie members. ethan belchetz, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 ohl draft, was named to the second team on left wing while defenceman carter hicks, who was a second-round pick in 2024, was also named to the second team.
de angelis heads south
former windsor spitfires’ defenceman nick de angelis has made an ncaa commitment to the university of new hampshire.
the 21-year-old de angelis was a second-round pick by the spitfires in 2020 and played two seasons for the club before being dealt to the sudbury wolves at the start of the 2023-24 season.
in 262 career regular-season games in the ohl, de angeles produced 15 goals and 132 points along with 140 penalty minutes.
clippers earn split
the windsor clippers split a pair of weekend road games in ontario lacrosse association junior b action.
the clippers let a late lead slip away, but rallied for an 11-10 overtime win in welland over the raiders on sunday after falling 15-5 to the st. catharines a’s on saturday.

on sunday, connor scott had three goals to lead the clippers (4-10-1). owen coffey scored twice while gabe arnett, logan gough, hudson dalpe, vance dalpe, owen arthur and keagan drexler added single goals against the raiders (1-13-1).
on saturday, hudson dalpe had two goals for the clippers while vance dalpe, ajinn vantassel and logan gough added single goals against the a’s (9-5-0).
ravens still winless
the essex ravens varsity squad fell 33-11 to the hamilton jr. ticats in the club’s ontario summer football league home opener on saturday at alumni field.
running back connor thompson had the lone touchdown for the ravens (0-3) with noah olson adding the convert against the jr. tiger-cats (3-0), who conceded two safeties to the ravens.
