it sounds like something straight out of a comedy bit. doctors are warning young men not to use banana peels to masturbate, after the sex trend has made the rounds on the internet.
yup, banana peels.
the new york post recently revived this reddit post, where one user recounts his near-death experience while masturbating with a banana peel. while it wasn’t the banana itself that nearly killed him, it was the slippery aftermath once he finished.
after using the banana peel to pleasure himself, the user realized that the banana excreted more juice than he anticipated. when he went to the bathroom to clean up, he slipped on the peel and fell in the mess he made, banging his head on the toilet.
“please, save yourself the trouble and just don’t use a banana. it’s not anywhere near as rewarding as you think,†he wrote.
while other users jumped on the chance to mock the user for even considering a banana peel, there were a surprising amount of people defending the poster.

it’s an experimental technique that some men have tried at least once in their lives, but as zachary zane writes in men’s health, the experience requires “a lot more work for relatively little reward.â€
as the post picked up steam, doctors are (again) issuing warnings why using a banana peel for self-pleasure isn’t a good idea.
“apart from being unhygienic and leading to sores and infection, there is a risk of allergy which could lead to a kind of swelling you probably don’t want,†scientific communicator dr. benjamin janaway told ifl science.
“a person with a banana allergy is more likely to be allergic to other substances such as latex or other fruits and vegetables,†warned dr. diana gill. “ so if you’re allergic to latex condoms, you may also be allergic to banana skins.â€
but if you’re looking for a similar sensation to the feel of a banana peel, dr. justin lehmiller, research fellow at the kinsey institute tellsâ men’s health that it’s better to err on the side of safety and try a masturbation sleeve.
