ontario man accused of attempted murder in p.e.i. appears in summerside provincial court

summerside, p.e.i. — an ontario man charged with attempted murder has made his first court appearance.
on april 28, 40-year-old alexy lacrest of peterborough appeared in summerside provincial court via video call for a show cause hearing to determine if he would remain in custody.
the hearing followed his april 24 arrest.
in a previous news release, the rcmp said summerside police were called by a slemon park security guard at around 1 p.m. on april 2, after an alleged assault. island ems and rcmp also attended the scene.
the security guard was treated by island ems and then taken to prince county hospital for his injuries.

charges

lacrest is facing charges of attempted murder, dangerous operation of a vehicle resulting in bodily harm, assault with a weapon and three counts of assaulting a peace officer.
the rcmp major crime unit is investigating, with assistance from summerside police services and joint forces operations.
lacrest, who is being held in custody, had his show cause hearing adjourned. he is scheduled to appear in court again may 6.
