a person was transported to hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries when a member of the rcmp’s halifax regional detachment discharged their firearm during an altercation tuesday afternoon.
an rcmp news release said officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on cedar lane in eastern passage at 1:48 p.m.
during the police response, a member discharged their gun. the unidentified person sustained life-threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, according to the release. no one else was injured.
the matter has been referred to the serious incident response team, as required by the nova scotia police act. sirt will conduct an investigation into the incident.
officers were still at the location tuesday afternoon, continuing with the investigation.
