nearly 300 kilograms of methamphetamine was found in halifax before its planned shipment to the philippines. 
canada border service agency officers found 299.7 kg of methamphetamine at the africville seasides marine container examination facility in halifax during an export inspection jan. 9, according to a news release friday. the drugs were found inside a wooden crate filled with solar panels, under a false bottom and sealed into nearly 300 packages. 
according to the release, all evidence, including the drugs, was given to the rcmp federal policing unit for further investigation. 
federal public safety minister gary anandasangaree applauded the work of law enforcement. 
“the canada border services agency is seizing drugs at our marine, land and air borders. with the rcmp and other law enforcement partners, they are disrupting transnational organized crime and making communities safer,” anandasangaree said in the release.
