the lebanese health ministry says an israeli double-tap strike on southern lebanon has wounded two people on tuesday and damaged an ambulance.
the ministry condemned the “continued targeting” of rescuers. the attack is the latest from israel, despite a truce between the country and iran-backed hezbollah, afp reported.
according to the national news agency, the hit took place in the southern city of nabatieh. the health ministry said israel attacked again when rescuers from the risala scouts association came to the scene.
“the ministry reiterates its condemnation of the enemy’s continued targeting of rescue teams, which constitutes an unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law and all international norms,” it said.
meanwhile, lebanon’s civil defence stated that its personnel were targeted by an israeli drone strike while they were trying to extinguish a bushfire, also in the nabatieh area.
no one was wounded, but the incident forced them to leave.

pakistan says deal to reopen strait of hormuz ‘close’

as both iran and the u.s. appear to stand firm on their conditions for reopening the strait of hormuz, pakistan’s defence minister said both sides are “close to some sort of arrangement” over the critical waterway.
“things are shaping up in favour of peace,” pakistan’s defence minister khawaja asif said in islamabad on tuesday, per bloomberg.
asif did not provide any details of any breakthrough in negotiations, but his comments came as pakistani interior minister mohsin naqvi arrived in tehran on tuesday for talks with his iranian counterpart, eskandar momeni, bloomberg reported citing the semi-state-run iranian students’ news agency.
earlier in the day, al jazeera had reported that talks between iran and oman regarding the reopening the strait had reached an advanced stage, citing comments from a qatari foreign ministry spokesperson.

israel ‘dragging its feet’ by rejecting peace plan: qatar

majed al-ansari, qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, accused israel of continuing its policy of “foot-dragging” by rejecting the gaza peace plan, part of the ceasefire deal reached with hamas, al jazeera reported.

al-ansari said that qatar “hopes the international community would exert pressure that culminates in implementing the second phase of the accord.”

the spokesperson praised hamas for announcing that it was ready to proceed with the plan, which includes disarmament, saying that the declaration “helped achieve a breakthrough in the agreement.”

it’s now israel’s responsibility to “live up to its obligations,” said al-ansari.

“the state of qatar continues to work with its partners in the international community to ensure the transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement based on the plan declared” by trump, said al-ansari.

iran-oman talks on strait of hormuz reach advanced stage: qatar

trump says iran’s economic situation is ‘not sustainable’

in a taped interview with media outlet “real america’s voice,” u.s. president donald trump defended his strategy in the iran war again, stating the country’s economic situation is unsustainable.
trump’s comments put focus on potential economic measures to pressure iran amid negotiations with iran over the strait of hormuz.
“just bop along and look how bad they’re doing, because they’ve got 300% inflation, they have no value. their currency has almost no value. they’re not paying their soldiers. their soldiers are leaving,” trump said, per abc news.
“so just keep that going because that’s not sustainable,” trump said, while adding the u.s. could “hit them really, really hard.”
“so economically, they are a mess. they can’t borrow money. we control their money, what they had, which is a lot. they had a lot, and we have total control of it. i’m their banker,” trump added.
