a north vancouver man is facing sexual-offence charges against a youth following a nearly two-year investigation.
zahid hassandeen zade nanji, 53, is charged with sexual exploitation and sexual assault after a richmond rcmp investigation into allegations of historical sexual offences.
rcmp received a report about the alleged offences in september 2024. it said the alleged offences occurred between 2004 and 2008 when the complainant was a youth and nanji was in a position of trust or authority.
“reporting incidents of sexual abuse can be extremely difficult, particularly when the events occurred many years ago,” said richmond rcmp’s cpl. frank bryson in a statement.
“we recognize the courage it takes for victims to come forward and encourage anyone who may have information related to this investigation, or who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, to contact police.”
a publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the complainant.
