crime
multiple westshore mounties and school liaison officers swarmed the grounds of spencer middle school in langford on thursday following reports of a schoolyard beating.
west shore rcmp spokeswoman cpl. nancy saggar said police were called to the school in the 1000-block of goldstream avenue at 9 a.m. and arrived within minutes.
“police determined a male adult had entered onto school property and assaulted a male student,” saggar said. “the suspect then fled from the property before police arrived. the student suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries for which they received medical care.”
she said a 35-year-old male suspect was arrested shortly after the attack and was remanded in custody until a court appearance set for nov. 14.
saggar said the suspect and the student weren’t related, but that it was a targeted assault.
