home improvement giant rona has pledged $300,000 to help windsor’s brentwood recovery home build new transitional housing units.
the donation comes from $1 million the rona foundation collected through its 2026 build from the heart fundraising campaign.
“i am extremely proud of how involved everyone was in our campaign again this year, whether it was our teams, our clientele or our vendor partners,” said catherine laporte, president of the rona foundation’s board of directors and chief digital and marketing officer for rona inc.
“the results we generated are a testament to our amazing collective engagement and real desire to make a difference in our communities.”
seven non-profit organizations in canada will receive a share of the $1 million for construction and renovation projects.
the rona foundation raised the money through an annual golf tournament, self-checkout donations, and a fundraising campaign at corporate stores, the company’s quebec distribution centre and its website.
the company also has a partnership with samsung, ge, bosch, electrolux, whirlpool and midea, which contributed $5 from the sale of each major appliance between april 18 and may 29.
the goal of the campaign is to support non-profit organizations in “revitalizing” living environments or provide access to housing for victims of domestic violence and their children, low-income families and people with disabilities or mental health issues.
the organizations were chosen following a call for applications and committee review of submitted projects.
in ontario, brentwood recovery home will receive $300,000 to build two fully accessible transitional housing units with three beds each, along with a new laundry service and a wheelchair-accessible outdoor trail.
“we are achieving great things together, as this campaign shows,” said laporte. “i would like to thank each and every person who contributed for their incredible generosity and support. thanks to you, we can offer hope to vulnerable canadians.”
