drivers wanting to get to b.c.'s southern interior face difficulties with some routes restricted

the ministry of transportation is warning drivers wanting to get into b.c.’s southern interior region that their travel options are limited.
on thursday, the government alerted drivers that highway 3 east of hope was closed in both directions due to wildfires. however, it has since reopened to single-lane traffic between manning park and sunshine valley. drivers are being warned about delays and they are being asked not to stop in the fire zones.
highway 1 near boston bar is also closed in both directions, due to the brunswick creek wildfire complex.
the coquihalla (highway 5) remains the only fully open major route into the southern interior. however, construction work is happening on that highway, so travellers are reminded to obey all posted speed limits, traffic-control personnel and construction signage. drivers must exercise patience while travelling through construction zones, the government said.
the government is urging drivers to check drivebc for up-to-date closure and reopening information.
