tom hanks is officially 70, and wife rita wilson made sure the milestone didn’t go unnoticed.
wilson, 69, celebrated her husband’s birthday thursday with a heartfelt
instagram post, writing, “happy birthday, love of my life! i love you so much!!!” alongside a recent photo of hanks sporting a white beard, sunglasses, a bandana and a button-down long-sleeve shirt.
the comments quickly filled with birthday wishes from celebrity friends and fans.
“happy birthday tom!!!” wrote julianne moore, while isla fisher added, “happiest birthday to the best.” one fan commented, “happy birthday stud! the world is better with you in it,” while another shared, “happy birthday sweet tom, rita knew straight away that you were the one.”

hanks and wilson have been married since 1988, according to

despite hitting the big 7-0, hanks said two years ago he was actually feeling better than he did decades ago.
“the hardest for us was when we were playing 35,” he told
entertainment tonight in 2024. “that time where your metabolism stops, gravity starts tearing you down, your bones start wearing off. you stand differently.”
he added, “i think i’m in better shape now. because my kids are grown up, i’m getting decent exercise and i can eat right. you can’t do that when you’re 35. life is such a burden.”
