dexcom's open call for diabetes advocates aims to help people raise their voice for diabetes awareness on a global scale. supplied
diabetes affects upwards of 828 million adults globally. that number is only growing, with projections expected to reach roughly 853 million by 2050.
advocacy for diabetes has increased awareness, both publicly and politically, which has made it easier for medical professionals to improve care as well as help people living with diabetes access care and financial resources. it has also changed the narrative surrounding diabetes, reducing both stigma and complications that can arise from under- or untreated diabetes.
now, dexcom, a global leader in glucose biosensing, has put out an open call for people from the united states and canada to be a part of the change. they’re looking for advocates for diabetes who can share their voice on a global scale.
“we’ve long believed that real people with diabetes should be the voice of our company, and we’ve fostered belief through our global dexcom warrior and stelo ambassador communities,” said senior vice president of marketing at dexcom, anne santoro, in a press release. she continued, “now, we’re giving these communities and anyone living with diabetes who’s passionate about raising awareness a chance to share their voice on a global scale.”

among the current advocates working with dexcom is nick jonas, a multi-platinum recording artist, whose personal experience with diabetes led him to become involved. he said in a press release that he “never sought to be the face of diabetes advocacy” but “learned that using our voices to spread messages of support, hope and perseverance can have a major impact on people’s lives.”
the rules for entering are simple: candidates must be at least two years old, nominated by themselves or someone who knows them, and have any type of diabetes or prediabetes.
winners will participate in a world diabetes day campaign photoshoot in los angeles and have dexcom-supported opportunities to attend ongoing events, connect with communities, and use their stories to raise diabetes awareness.
the deadline to throw your hat in the ring is september 19, 2025, and all applicants will be given the chance to use their voice to continue shedding light on diabetes and all that it entails. the campaign begins on november 14.
to enter, you can head to the nomination page on dexcom.
