it’s not easy being single, especially if you are on the road most of the time. the dating realities of truckers on the road can be harsh, filled with roadblocks, u-turns and loads of stop signs.
the folks at jw surety bonds surveyed more than 300 truckers — 71% men, 29% women — about their romantic history and found that the overwhelming majority (90%) found it challenging to form and sustain relationships due to their job, with scheduling conflicts and work-related stress the biggest challenges.
more than one-quarter of truckers said they were lonely and dissatisfied with their love life, while another 36% were not happy with the state of their sex life.
but love isn’t completely lost for truckers with 43% describing their love life as romantic, and nearly 3 in 5 respondents admitting to having sex in their trucks.
communication is key in relationships so that might be where the problems lie.
truckers surveyed said they spent a mere eight hours a week communicating with significant others and only 11 days a month connecting with them in person.
truckers also put long-distance love to the test with 59% spending two to three weeks on the road before going home.
